Brian S. McCarthy Foundation Awards $20,000 in Scholarships to the Class of 2023 Recipients!

We are thrilled to announce the Scholarship Recipients for the Class of 2023! This year the Foundation increased our scholarship awards from $2,500 to $5,000 each. We selected four recipients, awarding a total of $20,000 in scholarships.

Congratulations to Acadia Gelineau and Nicholas Kutschke from Nashua High North, and Kishan Angadi and Sophie Kingston from Nashua High South!

We had an incredible group of applicants and talked to some wonderful students! It was truly an honor to read and hear their stories and learn about their passions and inspiration. Every year we are in awe of the energy, intelligence, and community-mindedness of our applicants. We are so excited about the future of our world. We know it is in good hands.

Kishan Angadi, Nashua High South

Kishan will be studying Biomedical-Engineering at the University of Connecticut. He has always been interested in how everything works or comes apart, but was largely inspired by Tubbs, a three-legged dog he met at the Nashua Humane Society where he volunteers. He would like to help make prosthetics affordable for both humans and animals. Kishan is captain of the swim and dive team and an avid hiker.

Acadia Gelineau, Nashua High North

Acadia will be attending Nova Southeastern University to Study Marine Biology. She started volunteering with the Blue Ocean Society Discovery Center in 5th grade and is a volunteer with the Seacoast Science Center where she developed several research projects on Chain Sharks. Acadia is completing her Girl Scout Gold Award project, focusing on managing stress and anxiety.

Sophie Kingston, Nashua High South

Sophie will be studying Biomedical Science at the University of New Hampshire. She was inspired to become a research professional to pursue a cure for life altering diseases after the loss of her friend, Jenna, to Glioblastoma, so that families and friends can have more time with loved ones. Sophie is one of the founders of Rosie's Pantry located at Girls Inc. in Nashua

Nicholas Kutschke, Nashua High North

Nick will be attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute to study Robotics Engineering. He is the CEO of the Nashua FIRST Robotics Team. Nick became inspired and interested in Robotics from exposure to science fiction and reading the works of Isaac Asimov. He is interested in robot development, the ethics of the field, and how robotics can make communities better. Nick is captain of the cross country team.

We wish the Class of 2023 all of the best in their endeavors!

The Future is Bright! Congratulations!
